Accessories to Get the Most Out of Your GoPro Camera

When it comes to filming and recording adventures, GoPro has the best devices! This brand has you covered whether you’re on land, in the air, or underwater. However, regardless of which GoPro you choose, you’ll certainly require a few accessories to get the most out of your camera.

GoPro Housing

Housings are among the first must-have accessories for GoPro you should get. Most cameras require a matching 2-prong interface or buckle. Although the cameras themselves lack these features, their compatible housings do.

For instance, the HERO5 Black does not come with housing, but it does support the frame for HERO5 Black. The only function of this housing is to offer a 2-prong interface and a mounting buckle that can be connected and withdrawn. The Standard Frame for HERO Session cameras is included with the HERO5 Session cameras as well. This one also has a 2-prong connector and a mounting buckle.

On the other hand, HERO4 Black and HERO4 Silver feature a waterproof housing called Standard Housing. It has a two-prong interface and a mounting buckle, and it may be utilized in up to 131 feet of water. There are some variations to the Standard Housing of the HERO4 models, but they are all identical except for their finishes.

For those who want a matte black look, there’s the Blackout Housing, whereas The Camo Housing is ideal for those who prefer camouflage design.

Power Packs

You don’t want your GoPro to die on you when you’re out on an adventure. Fortunately, GoPro has some accessories that can help you prevent running out of juice. One of the solutions is to replace the battery. Power packs and portable chargers are fantastic when you’re out in the woods, but so is not having to use one since you carried an extra battery with you. If you get a second battery, you might as well get a twin battery kit to charge them both at the same time for your next expedition.

GoPro Mounts

Like the camera itself, the suitable mount is primarily determined by your adventure and the images you want to capture. Consider a wearable mount, such as a shoulder, chest, or head mount, for undertakings where you wish to shoot a classic first-person POV image. All three methods allow you to film GoPro footage with your hands-free, allowing you to focus on the action rather than the recording.

There are a variety of mounting options for automobiles as well. A handlebar/pole mount can be used to install your GoPro to most bikes and seat posts, while a good old-fashioned suction mount can be used to stick it almost anywhere else. You may also utilize an extension tripod to obtain some extra height or length for those instances that demand a longer perspective, like when you want to reach your GoPro out of a shark cage.

Water Accessories

If you’re one of those underwater enthusiasts, it’s good to know that GoPro has plenty of amphibious accessories to help you get the most out of your camera. Begin with an aqua filter pack, which will provide the necessary colour correction for underwater photography. When you’re underwater and need a bit of additional light, you can use an underwater light to increase the brightness. The GoPro HERO6 and HERO7 are waterproof down to 33 feet, but if you’re going deep-sea diving and need additional protection, invest in a scuba housing unit that will allow you to record down to 197 feet.

Memory Cards

Sometimes, the content is too compelling to turn off the camera or delete the film. If you’re concerned that your content will be too long, bring a spare memory card or two. You won’t have to waste time in the field deleting footage or uploading photographs to a portable hard drive to free up space. Insert a new memory card and let the good times roll!

External Audio

Although every GoPro has a built-in microphone, you’ll need to add an extra mic if you want higher-quality audio. GoPro sells adapters that allow you to plug an external microphone into the camera’s USB port. You can opt for the Pro 3.5mm Mic adapter for the HERO5 Black and HERO5 Session, both of which have USB-C ports, or the 3.5mm Mic Adapter for the HERO4 Black and Silver, both of which have micro-USB ports. However, the HERO Session does not support external audio.

Miscellaneous Accessories for GoPro

The Handler, a comfortable handgrip, is one of the most helpful go pro accessories. Then there’s the GoPro 3-Way, which includes everything from a handgrip to a selfie stick to a tripod. And, if you only need a small desktop tripod, the GoPro Mini Tripod will be the right fit.

The GoPro Remo is a voice-activated remote control suitable for the HERO5 Black and HERO5 Session models. It allows you to communicate via voice commands from up to 33 feet away with the camera. It can also be used underwater up to 16’ with the push of a button. The GoPro Smart Remote is a 600-foot-range remote control that can control up to 50 cameras and is compatible with all five GoPro cameras. It’s also waterproof to a depth of 32 feet.

Last but not least is the GoPro WindSlayer. It’s a windshield for HERO4 cameras made of foam. When using the camera’s built-in microphone, the WindSlayer lowers wind noise and improves audio quality. As the name implies, it’s designed for high-speed activities or windy conditions.
